About

Dr. Mathieu Colin

After completing a Master's degree at the École Pratique des Hautes Études in Paris and a doctorate at the Université de Montréal, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the UNESCO Chair in Prevention of Radicalization and Violent Extremism (UNESCO-PREV) and at the Centre de recherche interdisciplinaire sur la diversité et la démocratie (CRIDAQ), in Quebec.

I am currently Scientific Director of the UNESCO-PREV Chair and an adjunct professor at the School of Applied Politics at the Université de Sherbrooke. My research program focuses on political and religious radicalism in the contemporary world. I am specifically interested in phenomena of extremism and terrorism, conspiracism, and the sociology of social movements and of religion.

My research has been recognized with several awards, notably the Prize for Best Thesis in Religious Studies from the Institut d'études religieuses at the Université de Montréal, and the Paul Guérin-Lajoie Relève Étoile Prize from the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et culture, for my article "And the Devil Marches With Us: Aesthetics, Eschatology and Accelerationism Within The Order of Nine Angles," published in Terrorism and Political Violence.

Welcome to my website. I am always open to potential collaborations, media inquiries, or discussions, so please don't hesitate to contact me with any inquiries.
